How to Add a Business Listing to Factual
A relative newcomer on the local data scene, Factual has become one of the most important feeder sites of the local search ecosystem, providing data to big players such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Bing and Apple / Siri.
Unlike some other aggregators who sell their own apps or run ads, Factual only deals with data. Their API is behind various apps and websites, including a number of local and vertical directories, making them a key player in the local search game and an important place to have an accurate listing of your business.
Adding or changing your business information is relatively simple. First, head on over to Factual’s Data Preview Tool – https://www.factual.com/data/t/places
Enter your location information and business name, and city into the search fields. If the search returns any listings for your business, make note of their Factual ID’s – you will need these to claim / update your data.
Next, stroll on over to the Update / Add Business page – https://www.factual.com/contact#update_add_business and fill in the required information. The form will walk you through making updates as needed, or take you through the process of adding a new listing. It’s only one page and pretty basic.
And that’s all there is to it!
The only down side to Factual is that it can take up 6-8 weeks before your changes or additions will be processed. If you’re not that patient, you might want to consider Yext Powerlistings. Yext can fast-track changes to Factual in a much shorter time frame. As a bonus, it will also add/sync your listings on over 50 other local business sites and let you manage them all from one dashboard.
