Ok this is not much of a SEO post but all politics is local right? I was catching up on the whole sort of alleged John McCain lobbyist affair with Vicki Iseman, a lobbyist for Alcade & Fay, and found a story about how Iseman’s bio was pulled from the firm’s website. If you are looking for the scintillating details of the other half of the McCain scandal all you have to do is go to Google and search the…
As many of my readers now know The SEMMY Awards nominations have been announced and I am both a judge in the Small Business Marketing category and a nominee for the following posts: Yelp SEO Analysis: Part One Geotargeting Location By IP Address = SEO Death As I was going through all of the Small Biz posts I am judging and emailing with my fellow judges I started to come up with a criteria for how to judge these posts. …
I have been asked to judge the Small Business category of the 2008 SEMMY Awards. The SEMMYS are for the best blog posts and articles in search marketing. The awards were conceived of by Matt McGee and the judges are a veritable who’s who of search bloggers (excluding yours truly of course – I am more like a veritable “who’s he” in this group). Since I would never have been asked to participate in this without the support of you,…
The votes are in and I am pleased to say that Matt McGee’s Small Business SEM blog was named the best local search blog of 2007 by the readers of SearchEngine Journal. As a regular reader of Matt’s work I can say that he puts a lot of effort into his blog and I get a lot of value out of it. If you have not subscribed to his feed yet I recommend you do so. And check out his…
As predicted by my analysis of backlinks to presidential candidate’s websites, Google’s algorithm called it right in Iowa for the top three Democrats. But it totally blew it on the Republican side. According to Google’s backlink counts it should have been 1. Paul 2. Huckabee 3. Giuliani. Looks like it’s time for Google to get some Republicans working on the algo. There may be some looking for work soon. 😉
I am looking for an inexpensive online proposal generator software tool (paid or free) that will allow me to more effectively develop sales proposals. Anyout there have any recommendations?
Whether you have a small local business or a big global one asking customers what they want is a crucial component of growing a business, and one that is often overlooked in the day-to-day hustle of trying to get a product or service out the door. As I was preparing my editorial calendar for the next 90 days I realized I had not really asked my readers what it was they wanted to know about. So before I start spewing…
Search Engine Journal has announced its nominations for the Search Blogs Awards of 2007 and I am proud to say that Local SEO Guide has been nominated for best Local Search Blog. There are a number of other great local search blogs nominated including blogs by Greg Sterling, Matt McGee, Mike Blumenthal, Larry Sullivan, Peter Krasilovsky and The Kelsey Group. Not bad company to be in. If you want to start my new year off right please feel free to…
When I started this blog my good friend, Matthew Yeomans of Custom Communication, UK social media consultants, told me that 99% of bloggers never make it past 90 days of blogging. Today is Local SEO Guide’s 90-day-mark and while it’s tempting to chuck it in (I am writing this at the breakfast table which really sends the right message to the kids) I think I’ll give it a shot for another 90 days. There’s still a ton of local search…
